Play food

For a long time Lamb's kitchen play things have consisted of a few old pots, spoons and containers from the kitchen. He has always enjoyed play cooking but I thought for Cherry's second birthday we might jazz up our play cooking department.

So we bought a set of plastic fruit for her to cut, a set of mini pots and pans and a wooden toaster complete with bread and butter. She already had the tea set from her first birthday.

THEN one of her aunties bought a little ceramic dinner set and the other made the beautiful blanket.

Mummy had gotten busy as well.

Felt eggs. Ravioli and bow pasta.

Felt steak, beans, cauliflower and brocolli. Then swiss cheese, lettuce leaves and tomato slices.

There are SO many ideas for making felt food online. I didn't follow any tutorials or anything but looked at the pictures and worked out how I wanted to do it.

It was actually a very relaxing project! Easy to do in front of the tele at night and nothing took very long so immediate satisfaction level was high.

I think I might be making some more felt food for the winkles at some stage!

Playscapes

The winkles and I have had fun over the last couple of weeks making playscapes.

I have always sorted their toys into categories I suppose but haven't pulled them out and set them up in order to provoke interest.

Here I pulled out some fabric I already had (for grass) and set up their barn with barn animals. I put brown fabric in the trough for mud for the pig and we set up a fence for the other animals.

Then Lamb decided we needed water so the little spot of blue came out and we made a bridge for the birds (so they didn't get eaten by the crocodile) and then we needed trees apparently for the deer so I pulled these out of his wooden Thomas set. Both winkles played for ages!

For Cherry's birthday party I set this up out in the garden complete with a tray containing her tea set and toaster. The little girls were enthralled and one or several were in there for the entire afternoon.



Dinner for Daddy

Lamb and I had a great play dough session the other day. My husband was home and Lamb insisted that we make dinner for Daddy.

Here is what we have:

A steak with olives (because Daddy likes olives), peas, carrots, yellow capsicum and florets of broccoli.

For dessert he made a banana and some blueberries but was a bit perplexed about how to make ice cream so squished it all together and said it was chocolate mousse instead!
